Chuck got the mailbox and the flag up on Sunday so we are officially living here!!! Also, on Sunday we spent some time at the end of the driveway by the mailbox. This area had become home to dozens of dandelions and thistles. And creeping charlie had killed the clematis on the trellis and was choking the 2 bushes by the light pole. Looks nice now!
I have a temporary sewing room set up in the
sunroom. It's small, but bright and sunny and
ready for me to use on those days when I just
need a break from the moving. I can look out at
the back garden and pretend it's not 90 percent
humidity!!
I got the baby quilt back from my quilter on Saturday. If you enlarge the picture you can see what a wonderful job she does! Angie asked me several months ago (before acreage) if I would do 2 quilts for some friends of theirs. I'm always pleased and honored when she asks me and wouldn't dream of telling her no. However, I kind put it out of my mind because she didn't need them for awhile. I did have a plan for this one. It's made from blocks that came from the Fresh Laundry quilt I made for one of the bedrooms this spring. Most of the work was already; I just had to sew it together. Hard to find a good backdrop for this picture as all the walls here are white and the quilt is cream. It's really cute and I will save this pattern to make again.
Our first landscape area cleaned up! It's just outside the back door of the garage. A small 4x4 piece of cement where we can sit while we grill! The stepping stones were there but buried under a huge patch of ground cover. The only things left of the original plantings are 3 barberry bushes and these purple coneflowers that are still trying to bloom. I don't know if the sun is right or not time will tell. Now if the weather would just cool off a little we could enjoy some outdoor time in the evenings.
That's it for now. Next time I'll have more pictures of the latest perennials that are in bloom.
